Prominent Nuclear Energy Policy Makers and Executives s to Address 1,600 Nuclear Scientists and Engineers at American Nuclear Society Winter Meeting

• Meeting to focus on the promise of nuclear energy as a solution to the nation’s energy concerns and global climate change
Energy policy and nuclear energy industry leaders are scheduled to participate in the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Winter Meeting being held November 15-19 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
The plenary session, to be held Monday, November 16 at 8:00 a.m., is entitled “Nuclear Power: Crafting Energy Solutions.” ANS President Tom Sanders will make opening remarks to introduce the program, which includes (in alphabetical order):

Two embedded topical meetings will be held in conjunction with the 2009 ANS Winter Meeting: Risk Management and the 2009 Young Professionals Congress. Approximately 100 young nuclear energy professionals have volunteered for meetings with congressional offices on Thursday, November 19.
There also will be two Professional Development Workshops held: “Next Generation Safeguards Specialist” and “New Reactor Licensing – Lessons Learned.” The ANS Nuclear Technology Expo will feature over 100 exhibitors representing leaders in nuclear science. Carl Rau of Bechtel Nuclear Power and Mark H. Ayers of the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO are serving as General Meeting Co-Chairs.
