Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Farley's Engineering organization is seeking a high performing supervisor with an analytical mindset. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear's Plant Farley in Columbia, Alabama.



Summary: This position is assigned to the Reactor Engineering department in site engineering. This position is responsible for leading a group of engineers in performance of activities supporting daily plant operation and refueling outages within the area of Reactor Engineering. This position will direct the following activities: reactor core monitoring, power maneuvers, special nuclear material (SNM) accountability and monitoring, fuel movement and inspection, technical specification surveillances, dry cask storage support, and computer hardware and software support. Conduct of these activities will ensure safe, reliable and efficient plant operation for Farley Units 1 & 2.

 
Supervisory duties include:
Ensure proper implementation of corporate, plant and department policies/procedures.
•Ensure focus and prioritization for Core Engineering activities, including optimization of nuclear fuel operation of reactor cores and implementation of nuclear fuel reliability action plans.
•Ensure training and qualification of personnel in accordance with applicable procedures.
•Provide effective and efficient support of plant departments in trouble shooting and problem resolution activities.
•Site Functional Area Manager (SFAM) for the Reactor Engineering Functional Area.
•Serve in the emergency response organization with a TSC role.
•Serve as duty Engineering Supervisor.
•Ensure proper industrial and radiation safety practices are followed by employees and contractors.
•Must model safe work behaviors.

•Ensure personnel embrace the use of Human Performance Tools (Fleet and Engineering).



Education

Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering (preferred) or an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. An engineering degree in a related field or program will be considered. An advanced degree and/or PE license is desired but not required.



Job Experience

A minimum of 5 years nuclear experience is required for this position. Ten (10) years of nuclear experience is desired for this position.



Required:

Strong background in reactor engineering


•Excellent oral and written communication skills.


•Working knowledge of common computer tools, including MS Word and Excel.




Preferred:

Shift Technical Advisor or Operations licensing certification (SRO) experience.


•Working knowledge of Westinghouse BEACON software, Westinghouse TRACWORKS as well as Linux OS and other applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry.


•Three (3) years of supervisory experience


•Working knowledge of plant operation.
