Job Description


Maintain control over area of responsibility. Maintain control over assigned core function that could include: Chemical Control Program, Training Coordinator, Water Treatment, Closed Cooling Waters, Chemistry Instrumentation Specialist, Environmental Programs and Department Improvement Coordinator.


Propose time saving improvements and work methods. Develop long term planning and provide support for equipment repair/replacement in area of expertise.

Develop and revise procedures in accordance with current regulatory and administrative requirements. Enhance communications by performing a liaison function between various work groups.

Communicate with peer at other stations within fleet to promote standardization. Serve as Contract Manager and obtain 50.59 quals.

Review/generate reports in area of expertise. Review documents generated within the department and by contractors within area of expertise.

Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.

May serve on HazMat Team. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization. Provides on-the-job training and guidance to less experienced Specialists.


Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Chemistry or related technical degree may be credited for up to 4 years of experience, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

III Level: 2 years commercial or military nuclear experience. Desired: At least 5 years’ experience in the associated department.
Sr Level :3 - 5 years commercial or military nuclear experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position 

Knowledge in Gamma Spectroscopy

Knowledge in Chemistry Laboratory Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation

Desired: Proficiency with current computer business applications.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Office environment with minimal physical requirements.
