GenSight, a leader in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software, has been selected by Westinghouse Electric Company as the core planning platform for the company’s idea capture and research and development project selection capability.
Westinghouse is a pioneer in the nuclear power industry and the leading supplier of nuclear plant products and technologies to utilities across the globe. It supplied the world's first commercial pressurized water reactor in 1957 in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, and today provides technology to more than 40 percent of the world's nuclear plants, including 60 percent of those in the United States.
As a global nuclear technology leader, Westinghouse is committed to delivering innovative products and services to its customers. Westinghouse selected GenSight to provide a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool to help govern the company’s innovation portfolio from idea generation through commercialization.
Richard Anderson, principal engineer for Westinghouse said: “GenSight was selected by Westinghouse based on its technical capabilities, configuration flexibility, and PPM business experience. GenSight and its software will play a vital role in guiding our innovation investment decisions.”
Mike Menard, co-founder and president of North American Operations for GenSight said: “Westinghouse is bringing the science of Project Portfolio Management to its decision making processes. We are thrilled to be working with Westinghouse for a number of reasons, including the depth and breadth of its innovation portfolio and the impact Westinghouse has will have on the everyday life of people across the world. The team at Westinghouse have brought the high science of nuclear energy together with forward-thinking and proven business strategies, for scientific and management benefit. It’s great to see GenSight at the heart of that combination.
Businesses adopt a portfolio management capability in order to gain fine-tuned and measured ways to realize innovation decisions and to optimize the allocation of their resources – whether it’s to meet product deadlines, out-maneuver competition or exceed shareholders’ expectations. Science is driven by different considerations – the need to innovate and change lives – yet it must also operate within set parameters and manage resources closely. PPM meets the needs of both groups.”
Westinghouse will deploy version 8.0 of GenSight Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) across multiple sites. This sophisticated, yet user-friendly PPM solution enables organizations to analyze, prioritize and manage portfolios of projects. A web-based application with a readily configurable architecture, GenSight version 8.0 can be accessed by users across multiple locations.
