Charlotte, N.C.-based SPX announced Wednesday that it will replace moisture separator reheaters at a German nuclear plant owned by RWE Power.

SPX Image:SPXThe $20 million deal calls for SPX’s Balcke-Duerr subsidiary to manufacture and install the equipment at the A unit of the Biblis nuclear plant, about 100 miles north of Strasbourg.

"Having installed moisture separator reheaters at nuclear power plants since the late 1960s, SPX is a pioneer of this key technology in nuclear power generation and has supplied Balcke-Duerr-branded moisture separator reheaters to power plants throughout Germany ... We supplied the replacement MSRs for Biblis plant B in 2003, and we appreciate the continued trust placed in the reliability and efficiency of our systems," SPX segment president Drew Ladau said in a statement.

According to the release, RSE is Germany’s second largest power generator. Its Biblis plant features two pressurized-water reactors producing 2,500 megawatts.
