Babcock & Wilcox on Wednesday announced two Naval fuel contracts that total more than $100 million.

B&W subsidiary Nuclear Fuel Services Inc. will provide highly enriched uranium fuel and support for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers through a contract with the Department of Energy's Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office. Another contract will support the development of material for future Naval reactor programs.

“We appreciate the confidence placed in our organization by the U.S. Department of Energy and the naval reactors program,” B&W Nuclear Operations Group President Peyton Baker said in a release. “We’re proud to support these critical defense projects, particularly our role in supplying the fuel that powers the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.”

The Charlotte, N.C.-based company has fuelled the Navy's nuclear fleet since 1964. NFS, headquartered in Erwin, Tenn., employs about 1,000 people, including long-term contractors.
