Reactors Restarted at Korea's Younggwang Plant After Parts Documentation Investigation

Both reactors taken offline in South Korea following a scandal surrounding faulty parts documentation have restarted.

Yonhap news reported that Younggwang unit 6 returned to service Wednesday, two days after it received the go-ahead from Korean regulators. All of the parts in question were replaced in that reactor and at unit 5, which restarted Monday.

A Korean government investigation reported that 13,794 parts received by Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. in the last ten years were affected by forged warrantees and potential quality issues. Roughly half of them had been installed in the reactors.
