Its six operational Candu heavy water reactors were recently granted a five-year license extension by Canadian regulators. Their containment buildings each feature double walls nearly six feet thick. Additionally, each unit is connected to a separate vacuum building designed to remove and condense any radioactive steam produced during an accident.
It's good to be reminded about the message once and a while, to hear about the strong track record, and to see the commitment to the end of life to the facility.
