A lawsuit intended to block construction of 1,383 MW mixed-oxide at the Ohma nuclear power plant in Japan has been rejected by a district court in Hokkaido prefecture.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of more than 1,000 Hokkaido residents. It was filed in 2010.
Japanese utilities still struggle reopen existing nuclear power plants given the seismic rupture in support for the industry after the March 2011 accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear generating station 270 miles northeast of Tokyo.
How soon work could resume on the halted construction project was not reported. The unit in question is about 38 percent completed, said a company spokesman, Reuters reported.
