The Office for Nuclear Regulation in Britain said that AWE pic, which operates the country's Atomic Weapons Establishment program had met the standards set out in two Improvement Notices sent to the company in February 2017.
“AWE pic has completed the improvements necessary by the due date and ONR considers the notice(s) has been met,” the agency said.
The issues involved were not considered an immediate threat to nuclear safety, as they involved documentation issues. The agency at the time “raises specific concerns associated with the lack of an appropriate grading system for changes to documentation, a disproportionate emphasis on reducing the burden of health and safety on the business and inadequate implementation of the process for the control of changes to documentation.”
