The China National Nuclear Corp. and Rosatom’s engineering division Atomstroyexport signed contracts this week calling for construction of two VVER-1200 reactors that would make up Tianwan Units 7 and 8 in the Jiangsu province.
Plans also call for construction of two VVER-1200 reactors at the Xudabao site in the Liaoning province, according to Nuclear Engineering International.
CNNC and Afrikantov OKBM, a separate Rosatom division, have also signed contracts for construction of a fast neuron prototype Chinese-designed CFR600 reactor, NEI reported.
Rosatom’s ASE group, which involves Atomstroyexport and three other divisions, is now responsible for about a third of the global market for nuclear power plant construction. About 80 percent of their work is made up of export projects.
