French nuclear services giant Framatome celebrated the opening of its new engineering research and operations center and the expansion of Intercontrole, a subsidiary that specializes in automated non-destructive testing, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week, the company said.
The new engineering research and operations center will be home to a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for carrying out construction, safety reviews and dismantling projects on behalf of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and TechnicAtome. This team also works on the ITER nuclear fusion project, responsible for the Tokamak installation as part of a consortium with Chinese partners.
Cadarache is home to Intercontrôle since the early 1980s. With its expanded facility, Intercontrôle is positioned for growth and will continue to provide specialized services and maintenance and develop new non-destructive testing solutions. The new facility allows Intercontrôle to continue to provide its services in the region beyond 2030.
