French nuclear service company Orano said it had signed several contracts valued at 150 million euros with French utility EDF to provide technical support for the EDF nuclear fleet.
The contracts cover services that will be spread out over a period until 2025 with an option that could extend the work for an additional two years.
With the contracts in place, Orano will provide reactor operation support services for the nuclear plants at Chinon (Indre-et-Loire) and Belleville-sur-Loire. The work will be provided with support from Samsic and OMS. “The group will carry out the installation and removal of scaffolding and thermal insulation at the Nogent-sur-Seine (Aube) nuclear power plant in partnership with ARIS.
Starting in 2021, the Orano-led teams will also be performing support activities for the Saint-Alban NPP (Isere) in partnership with Samsic.
The sector of operations support for nuclear units covers a broad range of services. These are to include inspecting the performances of radiation protections, transportation of packages, “whilst also involving responsibility for tooling warehouses, as well as waste collection and management,” Orano said.
Annually, these worksites will mobilize nearly 600 Orano employees, providing services to nuclear sites in operation or undergoing dismantling on the four sites.
