Ukrainian nuclear power operator Energoatom and the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) on June 29 used the convenience of video conferencing to sign a letter of intent, formalizing prior agreements on the implementation of joint projects with Canadian companies in the nuclear energy sector.
The two parties confirmed their intention to enter into a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the short run, which will clarify the principles and directions of future cooperation between Energoatom and OCNI.
The subject of mutually beneficial cooperation will focus on the construction of new nuclear power units, hydrogen technologies, waste management, and production of medical isotopes, regulatory harmonization and other issues. The parties also plan to hold trade missions and seminars to exchange information on the latest world developments in nuclear energy, including small modular reactors.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian and Canadian embassies as well as members of OCNI.
