Entergy has returned the Indian Point 3 reactor to service Thursday after deactivating it Wednesday to reconnect the auxiliary transformer, according to a release.
Before the shutdown, the unit had been operating since March 1 after being taken out of service on Feb. 29 to disconnect the transformer for a precautionary repair.
The auxiliary electrical transformer takes electricity from the plant’s main electrical generator and reduces its voltage to power various plant equipment. Unit 3 operated between March 1 and April 10, using a separate source of electrical power for use on site while repairs to the transformer were being made, according to the release.
The plant's second unit is at full power after completing its twentieth refueling outage on April 1.
