B&W and Bartlett Holdings Win Progress Energy Nuclear Maintenance Contract

Progress Energy has awarded a contract for a range of services at its nuclear plants to a joint venture created by Babcock & Wilcox and Bartlett Holdings.

The joint company, called BWB Maintenance Services, will provide maintenance, craft services, project execution, radiation protection and health physics under the five-year contract, B&W said in a release. BWB is transitioning into this new role, beginning facility assessments in preparation to support three major maintenance and refueling outages planned for spring 2012.

"This contract is an important addition to our growing nuclear services portfolio and demonstrates B&W's capability to provide a complete nuclear services package to utilities across the nation," B&W Nuclear Energy Inc. President Christofer M. Mowry said in a release. "Bartlett is a respected industry leader, and we look forward to working with them to meet Progress Energy's needs."

Bartlett Holdings - also known as BHI Energy - is based in Plymouth, Mass., employs 5,500 and offers a range of engineering and maintenance services for power plants.
