Another court has denied efforts by the state of Vermont to appeal federal regulators' decision to extend the license of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals denied an appeal by the state related to water quality permitting during the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's relicensing process. Vermont Public Radio reported that the court decided the state had waived its right to court review by failing to raise the issue sooner. The ruling follows the denial in a federal court last year of another relicensing suit brought by the state.The Vermont Yankee is a General Electric Type 4 boiling water reactor that generates 510 megawatts near Brattleboro, according to the NRC. It was first licensed in 1972, and the agency granted Entergy a 20-year license extension at the plant in March of last year.
