Areva has cut a deal to provide fuel for five Exelon reactors starting in 2016.The contract announced Thursday covers 18 reloads – enough for three refueling cycles at the Dresden and Quad Cities plants in Illinois, plus six refueling cycles at Three Mile Island unit 1 in Pennsylvania. It also includes related engineering services at TMI, according to an Areva release, which did not disclose a dollar figure for the agreement. The company will fabricate the fuel in Richland, Wash.Exelon operates four General Electric boiling water reactors at its Dresden and Quad Cities plants. It operates a Babcock & Wilcox pressurized water reactor at Three Mile Island. Areva noted that Exelon will use the French company's Atrium 10XM fuel for the BWRs.
