Firefighters quickly doused a fire reported in an auxiliary building at North Carolina's Harris nuclear plant Wednesday.Offsite responders arrived at about 5 a.m. after a report that an industrial dryer had caught fire, WTVD reported. It was soon extinguished, and the cause of the incident was not immediately known. No injuries were reported and chemicals nearby were unaffected. According to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the plant was operating at full power as of Wednesday morning. Duke Energy did not declare an unusual event or an alert, suggesting the fire was outside of the protected area or was extinguished within 15 minutes. The plant operates a single 900 megawatt Westinghouse pressurized water reactor first licensed in 1986.
