The governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie said that the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Ocean City, N.J., is ahead of schedule regarding its planned 2019 shut down.
"I can tell you from recent conversations with executives at Exelon that plan is not only on track and on time, but a little ahead of schedule," the governor said Wednesday. "And we're working to get as much of that done and completed before we leave office in January," the Philadelphia Business Journal reported Christie as saying.
Christie did not say how far ahead of schedule Exelon might be concerning the plant that supplies the state with 9 percent of its electricity demand. However, he touted the state's energy master plan that "has focused on the increase in building natural gas plants."
