The second steam generator for China National Nuclear Corporation’s Fuqing Unit 6 has been successfully installed, the company announced.
Steam generators are a major component in a pressurized water reactor system, which transfers heat from the primary reactor coolant circuit to a secondary circuit, turning water into steam to drive a turbogenerator.
The steam generator itself comprises tens of thousands of components, CNNC said. The steam generator for Fuquing Unit 6 was developed by CNNC in partnership with the Nuclear Power Institute of China.
CNNC announced the lift and installation of the steam generator on January 30.
