Britain’s Wood Group has announced another contractual agreement signed to provide engineering and technical services to Hinkley Point C, the first nuclear power station to be build in the United Kingdom in 20 years.
Wood said the Hinkley Technical Support Alliance (HTSA) agreement would last five years with an optional extension of five additional years.
The contract is effective immediately. Wood is to provide station developers EDF Energy with full life cycle services to improve project delivery and commercial performance. This entails construction design management, engineering support and supply chain services covering technical and engineering services across all elements of the project.
“We are looking forward to providing additional support to EDF Energy on a project which is vital to the UK’s energy security and the transition to a lower carbon energy mix,” said Wood CEO Bob MacDonald.
Wood has multiple tie-ins to EDF and to the Hinkley Point C project. In December 2017, the company announced a $16 million Hinkley contract as sole suppliler of inspection qualification services to the project.
