Construction Of Belarus Unit 2 Completed
Specialists have completed the assembly of the reactor plant of Power Unit 2 of Belarus NPP, Rosatom announced on March 23.
The designer and general contractor for the project is the Rosatom Engineering Division.
Rosatom said the assembly process included the installation of the reactor internals, the loading of dummy fuel assemblies, the installation of the protective tube unit and the upper unit - the reactor lid. The plant, as such, is ready for hot and cold functional testing.
In the next few days, the specialists will start filling the reactor plant primary circuit with demineralized water and, after receiving the necessary permissions, will start the main tests that precede the hot run of the reactor plant of Belarus NPP Unit 2.
Belarus NPP having two VVER-1200 reactors with the total capacity of 2400 MW is being constructed in Ostrovets (the Republic of Belarus). Belarus NPP Unit 1 has become the first Gen III+ unit in operation built abroad based on the Russian technologies.
