Teollisuuden Voima Oyj, operator of Finland’s Olkiluoto nuclear power plant said the removal of a damaged fuel element from Unit 1 had been completed and that full power was expected to be restored this week.
TVO said the element was replaced and full power was expected by 20 July, 23 days after the damaged fuel element was detected in late June.
The unit was shut down and disconnected from the grid on 10 July. The incident is similar to one that occurred at the plant’s Unit 2 in 2019. TVO did not report on how the element became damaged.
